RN Med-Surg/ED Float

The Float Med-Surg/ED Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care in both medical-surgical and emergency department settings at a critical access hospital. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care. The nurse must be adaptable to floating between departments and possess strong experience with EPIC electronic health records. The position requires working 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in medical-surgical and emergency department units.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and develop treatment plans.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Utilize EPIC electronic health record system for documentation and communication.
• Adapt to variable assignments and float between Med-Surg and ED departments as needed.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii.
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in medical-surgical and emergency department settings.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environments.

• Experience in critical access hospital settings.
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Previous float nurse experience covering multiple units.

• Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility to float between medical-surgical and emergency department units as needed.
• Work environment includes critical access hospital with variable patient acuity.
