Position: Kitchen Supervisor
Pay: $23–$24 per hour
Reports To: Head Chef / Management

Kalye is seeking an experienced and dependable Kitchen Supervisor to support our Head Chef and oversee day-to-day kitchen operations during service.

This is a hands-on position. The Kitchen Supervisor will work alongside the culinary team while helping ensure that food quality, consistency, cleanliness, organization, and service standards are maintained throughout each shift.

The ideal candidate is a strong line cook who is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities and can confidently guide the kitchen team, communicate with FOH and management, and keep service running smoothly.

• Work assigned kitchen stations and actively participate in prep and service.
• Lead and supervise the BOH team during assigned shifts.
• Serve as the kitchen point person when the Head Chef is not present.
• Ensure dishes are prepared according to Kalye's recipes, portioning, presentation, and quality standards.
• Monitor ticket times, kitchen flow, and execution during service.
• Assign and coordinate prep and side work as needed.
• Ensure all stations are properly stocked, organized, and prepared before service.
• Communicate shortages, 86'd items, operational issues, and service concerns to FOH and management.
• Assist with receiving and properly storing food and kitchen deliveries.
• Monitor product quality, freshness, labeling, dating, rotation, and proper storage.
• Follow and enforce FIFO procedures.
• Help monitor food waste and ensure waste is properly recorded.
• Assist with kitchen inventory and communicate low-stock items to the Head Chef.
• Help maintain appropriate portion control and minimize unnecessary food waste.
• Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed correctly.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.
• Ensure the team follows NYC Department of Health food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Monitor proper food temperatures, storage procedures, and sanitation practices.
• Help train and support new BOH employees.
• Provide direction and coaching to kitchen staff when standards are not being met.
• Promote a professional, respectful, and team-oriented kitchen environment.
• Communicate equipment problems, maintenance concerns, staffing issues, or other operational problems to management promptly.
• Assist the Head Chef and management with other kitchen operational needs as required.

• Previous professional kitchen experience required.
• Previous lead cook, kitchen lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation.
• Ability to work efficiently and remain organized during high-volume service.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and comfortable taking ownership of a shift.
• Ability to work collaboratively with both BOH and FOH teams.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required in a commercial kitchen.

We are looking for someone who leads by example. The Kitchen Supervisor should be willing to jump onto a station, help the team through a busy service, maintain standards when management isn't directly present, and address problems before they become larger operational issues.
