Lead Social Service Practitioner (CFS)

Lead Social Service Practitioner Children and Family Services (CFS) is recruiting Lead Social Service Practitioners who function as lead workers and provide diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and case management support to individual groups, children and/or families with complex health, psychosocial or economic problems. Incumbents also perform specialized social work duties, train and mentor Social Workers and lower level Social Service Practitioners, and assist Supervising Social Service Practitioners with supervisory functions. Special Assignments / Financial Incentives Candidates available for the following assignments are encouraged to apply and may receive additional compensation as specified in the MOU. Bilingual Positions Standby or call‑back duty Rotating/Swit/Night Shift : 24‑hour emergency response services; may be assigned a 4/10 or 3/12 schedule and may receive an evening/night shift differential. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, is required. Conditions of Employment Travel: Travel throughout the County is required, including long distance and occasional out‑of‑state travel by airplane. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required. Physical: Employees visit clients in their homes and other settings to complete risk and safety assessments. Positions require the ability to lift and carry children up to 50 lbs. Sponsorship: San Bernardino County does not consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Experience Two (2) years of experience performing duties equivalent to a journey‑level Social Service Practitioner in San Bernardino County, including at least one year in a government child welfare agency. Experience must include complex social work/clinical therapy, comprehensive diagnostic assessments, in‑depth clinical intervention, and treatment plans. Experience as a Social Worker II or Social Service Practitioner I is not considered qualifying. Education A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school by the Council on Social Work Education or a Master’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, or Counseling with an emphasis in marriage, family, or child counseling, or a closely related field. Candidates in Final Year of Master’s Program : Applications will be accepted from candidates who are within 120 days of completing a qualifying degree, provided they meet the minimum experience requirements at the time of application.
