Field Service Technician 1

Job Description Sunbelt Rentals provides equipment rental services across North America. The Road Mechanic position involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing equipment at customer locations in a safe, effective manner. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment including aerial work platforms, general construction tools, generators, pumps, and HVAC systems. Diagnose and repair diesel and specialty line equipment on site. Work in remote and on‑site locations, ensuring minimal downtime. Maintain accurate repair records and documentation. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; trade school or equivalent training preferred. 1–2 years of mechanic experience with diesel or heavy construction equipment or specialty lines (generators, pumps, HVAC, oil & gas equipment). Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; 21‑year‑old CDL license may be required in some locations. Ability to work independently and in a team, adapt to changing priorities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting. Familiarity with mechanic tools of the trade. Ability to work flexibly in a fast‑paced environment. Bilingual (Spanish or another language) may be required based on location. Physical Requirements Regular bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50lb or more inside and outside the workplace. Ability to perform work in varying weather conditions. Base Pay Range $21.38 – $29.39 per hour; starting rate may vary with location, education, training, and experience.
