Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

job summary:
A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is needed for a leading Engineering and Design firm. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for leading complex power generation projects across multiple office locations. In this key technical leadership role, you will manage design team activities, drive cross-disciplinary coordination, and ensure proactive, quality-driven project execution. You will work closely with Project Managers to align technical scope, monitor progress, and deliver robust design solutions.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 10+ years of relevant power generation experience, specifically with natural gas facilities. An active PE license (is required, along with knowledge of contracts, procurement, and liquidated damages. Experience with alternative project delivery methods like EPC or design-build is preferred. This is a direct-hire role, and our client will consider candidates which are fully remote that will travel 35% of the time.

responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day technical design processes and direct multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Ensure effective cross-discipline communication and technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinate design schedules and enforce quality control plans to maintain project standards
• Track discipline-level task completion and provide continuous updates to project leadership
• Communicate technical risks, design issues, and scope changes directly to the Project Manager
• Assist with client engagement, change management, and contract-related delivery risks
