Cash Applications Specialist

The Cash Application Specialist is responsible for processing payments within the Cash Posting Department, identifying trends and patterns in insurance payments, and coordinating with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPost all manual and electronic payments to patients accountsPerform reconciliations to the general ledger and other month-end proceduresIdentify patterns of over payments and bring them to the attention of appropriate supervisory personnel; identify billing errors, inaccurate payments, posting errors and resolve accordinglyReview insurance remittance advices for accuracyAssure all monthly, weekly, and daily deadlines are met in the cash applications process.Research unidentified payments and/or recoupment to determine appropriate resolutionNotify appropriate personnel of trends or problems with specific payersIdentify and coordinate remittance issues with accounts receivable departmental staffNotify appropriate personnel of trends or problems with specific payersOther job-related duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent required.At least one year of experience in medical payment posting requiredPrior accounts receivable experience preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESStrong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with internal and external contactsHighly detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilitiesAble to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneouslyProficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel (formulas, sorting, filtering)Comfortable using accounting or financial software and navigating electronic payment systemsProfessional phone etiquetteWORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed at a computer, requiring frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry while sitting or standing at a desk. #J-18808-Ljbffr
