Senior Accountant

MotivHealth is an innovative health insurance company dedicated to making high-quality healthcare more affordable. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, preparing financial reports, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting (STAT). The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This role is remote or hybrid and open to candidates based in Utah, Texas, or Arizona. Candidates local to South Jordan, Utah will work a hybrid schedule.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and STAT financial statements. Lead the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries and reconciliations. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Prepare supporting schedules for internal and external STAT and GAAP audits and coordinate audit requests. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies. Assist with STAT regulatory reporting. Support process improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline accounting procedures and increase efficiency. Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and financial reporting needs. Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned. Serve as the primary point of contact for all recruitment-related inquiries across the company

WHAT YOU BRING:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. 4 + years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience with STAT reporting is preferred. Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience using ERP, experience in NetSuite and Sage a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred. Public accounting experience is a plus.
