About the Position

Job Title: Inpatient Pharmacist Profession: Pharmacy Specialty: Pharmacist Inpatient Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 or 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Must hold a state pharmacy license Certifications: BLS preferred Must-Have: - Dosing experience in anticoagulation therapy, clinical dosing, geriatric dosing, high-alert medications, pediatric dosing, pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, and therapeutic medication monitoring. - Intravenous preparation skills, including compounding and sterile technique. - Medication dispensing system experience, specifically with unit dose systems. - In-depth knowledge of pharmacotherapy management for various medical problems, including cardiovascular, endocrine, infectious disease, pulmonary, and renal issues. - Ability to address clinical alerts related to pharmacokinetics and renal dosing. - Experience with drug shortage management. Description: Locals are not allowed for this position. There is a radius restriction of 60 miles; no exceptions will be made. First-time travelers will be accepted. Experience with Meditech is preferred. The start date is as soon as possible, with a contract length of 13 weeks. The schedule is Wednesday to Tuesday, operating on a 7 on, 7 off basis. Weekday shifts run from 19:30 to 05:30. Weekend shifts occur from 18:00 to 06:00. The specific schedule will be discussed during the interview as there are several options available. Weekend work is required. Pharmacists will not attend code blues or rapid responses. In addition to order verification, the night shift pharmacist will also manage clinical alerts. No pharmacy technician coverage is provided overnight. The inpatient pharmacist will be the only staff member present during shift hours. Pharmacists will work with a PharmacyOneSource queue to address clinical alerts. Expectation to work some holidays will be in place. Access to interdisciplinary support services is available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. The daily census is approximately 60 patients with 114 beds available. Keeping requests for time off to a minimum is preferred. Any requested time off must be approved before the start of the assignment. The pharmacist should expect to float to other departments if needed.
