College Intern - Maritime Environmental Finance

Some of what you'll be doing: This is a full-time summer and part-time school year internship opportunity expected to last one year. This position will support the Environmental Finance team in organizing, reviewing, and collecting documents from the past 15 years. Work includes gaining access to current and historical documents, organizing electronic documents using CoPilot, and helping the team to review sets of documents created by work for archiving, deleting, and updating. Update work includes interviewing the team, collaborating with other teams as needed, and helping the team to create comprehensive “how to” / SOPs, including video, Port standard MS Word or PDF files, and may include policy work. Learn about the functions of the Port Learn about the operations of all aspects of the Port Participate in invoicing, LEAN process, Continuous Process Improvement, Strategy for document management and development of policy, Standard Operating Practices, and finalizing strategy and work documents. Who you are: A student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or a recent graduate ( Committed to Equity – You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. Use of technology – You have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and are a quick learner, especially with technology. Experience with SharePoint and Financial software is a bonus. Communication – Have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate successfully with varying Port employees. Organized and proactive – You have a track record of successfully meeting tight deadlines in a fast‑paced working environment. You can balance and prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects with little supervision. Desired – You are interested in understanding the role finance, asset management, collaboration, and cross‑department teams have in organizations and are willing to deeply engage and provide your input. What else you need to know: Work Schedule – This is a full‑time summer and part‑time (about 30 hours per week) position during the school year. Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Work Environment – You will work in a hybrid remote/office environment with regular site visits as needed. Flexible work arrangements are available. You must live in Washington State. Limited Duration – This is a limited‑duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year. Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
