Job Title: Clienttion Therapist Profession: Clienttion Therapist Specialty: - Duration: 24 Weeks Shift: Varied open and close shifts Hours per Shift: 5:30 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: 1-2 years required, 3-5 years preferred License: Current license as required by the state Certifications: Must be registered by the ARRT in Clienttion Therapy Must-Have: True Beam, accelerator, SIMS Description: The Clienttion Therapy Technologist is responsible for the delivery of ionizing radiation to treat patients in accordance with the Clienttion Oncologist's prescription and simulation instructions. Responsible for the safe and effective execution of the prescribed course of radiotherapy and assessment of images and performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Administers radiation treatments to the patients, demonstrating competence in the following aspects of practice. Deliver and monitor the delivery of treatment. Ensure clear and completed documentation. Obtain and evaluate portal images, implementing corrective measures as necessary. Perform calculations. Prepare the room and equipment. Inform and instruct patients regarding equipment and procedures. Ensure informed consent. Transfer and position the patient. Simulate treatment portals per Clienttion Oncologist's instructions using conventional and/or CT simulation for the purpose of treatment field localization and verification. Document precise and legible information for the setup instructions. Assess diagnostic studies for field placement evaluation. Prepare for and construct immobilization devices as necessary. Place marks, tattoos, and landmark points for setup purposes. Contour the patient in appropriate planes. Perform calculations for monitor units following procedures set up by medical physicists. Construct and mount individualized shielding blocks and lead cut-outs as required. Prepare and apply individualized bolus. Perform and record quality assurance procedures as determined by department policies. Maintain timely execution of daily treatment appointment schedules in conjunction with patient transportation and care. Maintain a clean, tidy, and functional work area. Observe equipment for proper operation and report any malfunctions. Assess and respond to the patient's physical condition and special needs. Answer patient/family member questions within professional scope regarding treatment and ensure patients receive educational materials at the beginning of treatment. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the department with special attention to patient care rooms. Assist in teaching radiation therapy to students during their clinical rotation. Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 25 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 4 hours a day. Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs. Communicate with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level. Adhere to the standards identified in the Organizational Competencies.
