Job Title Research Assistant (Energy & Environmental Sustainability) Location Prairie View, Texas Job Type Staff Overview The Research Assistant position will assist with conducting research and other initiatives for the Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (CEES). This position will perform skilled, administrative, and managerial support in research. The role plans and directs certain phases in research projects. The position is grant‑funded and continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant‑funding. Salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position. Responsibilities Design, plan, and coordinate experiments in support of research projects related to membrane processes (ceramic membranes, forward and reverse osmosis, air gap membrane distillation, etc.), carbon capture‑related research, life cycle assessment, transportation materials, and infrastructure. Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results. Assist undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical, or field staff involved in research. Increase center’s research productivity by developing and submitting new proposals for funding and publishing high‑quality journal articles, and grant reports. Select and apply standard techniques of routine research, remain well organized, be capable of multi‑tasking, and maintain excellent documentation skills. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Must hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. No prior experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment. Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position. Ability to use existing resources and learn to accomplish or surpass intended results for current and future goals/needs. Preferred Qualifications Preferable to possess a Master’s of Science in Engineering, Chemistry or related fields.
