POSITION SUMMARY

The Building Consultant helps prospective customers understand their metal-building options and guides them through the initial sales and planning process. This person listens to the customer’s needs, gathers accurate project information, explains available products and options, prepares or coordinates quotes, and helps customers make informed decisions.

The Building Consultant should be confident, customer-focused, organized, and comfortable following up with leads while maintaining accurate records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•       Respond to incoming customer inquiries regarding pre-engineered metal buildings.

•       Speak with customers to understand their intended building use, desired dimensions, location, timeline, budget, and other project needs.

•       Explain available building styles, materials, colors, components, upgrades, and purchasing options.

•       Educate customers on the company’s sales and project process.

•       Gather complete and accurate customer and project information.

•       Prepare quotes or coordinate pricing based on approved company procedures.

•       Follow up consistently with prospective customers and active leads.

•       Maintain accurate notes, customer information, quotes, and sales activity in the company’s CRM or other systems.

•       Review contracts, selections, and project details with customers before the sale is finalized.

•       Clearly communicate what is included and excluded in the customer’s purchase.

•       Coordinate with Engineering, Project Coordination, Permitting, Production, Scheduling, and other departments when necessary.

•       Identify customer concerns or project risks and communicate them to the appropriate team.

•       Meet individual and team sales, follow-up, and customer-service expectations.

•       Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•       Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•       Ability to ask effective questions and listen carefully to customer needs.

•       Strong sales follow-up and relationship-management skills.

•       Ability to explain technical information in clear, customer-friendly language.

•       Strong attention to detail when documenting building specifications and customer selections.

•       Ability to manage multiple leads and customer conversations.

•       Comfortable using CRM systems, email, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other business software.

•       High school diploma or GED required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•       Previous sales, customer service, construction, manufacturing, or building-material experience.

•       Ability to read basic measurements, building information, or drawings.

•       Additional sales, construction, or business training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to:

•       Sit and work at a computer for extended periods.

•       Communicate regularly by telephone, email, video meeting, and company systems.

•       Occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, or lift office materials.

•       Occasionally enter production or shop areas while wearing required PPE.

•       Work in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
