Director of Assessment and Accreditation We are searching for an experienced Director of Assessment and Accreditation at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities PRIMARY PURPOSE The Director of Assessment and Accreditation serves as the strategic leader responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, educational excellence, and institutional accountability tailored to a unique studio-based art and design environment. Reporting directly to the Provost, with cross-functional collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE), this role bridges creative practice with rigorous evaluation. This position will manage comprehensive program review processes across all academic programs, including the Teaching and Learning Centers and the library, ensuring that the entire academic area reflects a unified commitment to quality. Additionally, they ensure that the college’s diverse undergraduate and graduate programs remain compliant with both regional accreditors (e.g., WSCUC) and specialized arts accreditors (e.g., NASAD—National Association of Schools of Art and Design). CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Regional and Specialized Accreditation Serve as the institutional liaison and compliance officer for regional (WSCUC) and specialized arts (NASAD) accrediting bodies. Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of all self-studies, interim reports, substantive change proposals, and annual institutional profiles. Coordinate accreditation site visits, including scheduling, logistics, and briefing campus leadership and community stakeholders. Monitor evolving accreditation standards and proactively advise executive leadership on necessary policy or operational adjustments. Comprehensive Institutional Program Review Design, implement, and manage a systematic multi-year cycle of program review for all academic, student affairs, administrative, and operational units. Guide non-academic departments (e.g., Admissions, IT, Facilities, Student Life) in establishing operational key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-area outcomes. Facilitate external review processes, including the recruitment of qualified external reviewers and the synthesis of final evaluation reports. Partner with unit leaders to translate program review findings into actionable, multi-year strategic improvement plans linked to budget allocations. Assessment of Learning and Institutional Effectiveness Develop and oversee a comprehensive framework for assessing program learning outcomes (PLOs), course learning outcomes (CLOs) and student learning outcomes (SLOs) at the institutional, program, and course levels. Collaborate with faculty to design assessment methodologies that respect and authentically evaluate studio-based, and creative work. Work closely with the OIRE to analyze quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., retention, graduation rates, alumni success, student satisfaction) to inform institutional decision-making. Provide professional development and coaching to faculty and staff on assessment best practices, rubric design, and data-informed continuous improvement. Leadership and Collaborative Governance Chair or serve as a key member on institutional committees dedicated to accreditation, assessment, curriculum, and strategic planning. Advocate for the value of assessment and accountability, translating complex metrics into meaningful narratives for a creative campus community. Supervise budget allocations for institutional assessment activities, accreditation fees, and external review site visits. Required Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS and EDUCATION: (Non-negotiable; minimum requirements, skills, experience, certifications) Education: Master’s degree or equivalent work experience. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in higher education administration, focusing directly on academic assessment, program review, and regional accreditation. Accreditation Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with regional accreditors (e.g., WSCUC) and a strong understanding of their standards and processes. Technical Skills: Proficiency with educational technology, assessment management systems, data visualization, and survey tools. Ability to translate complex, qualitative data, and macro-level accreditation requirements into clear, quantitative, narrative-driven, and actionable institutional strategies and executive reports. Assessment Expertise: Proven track record of developing learning and operational assessment frameworks across academic and non-academic divisions. Communication Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory concepts to diverse creative audiences. Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to lead and partner effectively with faculty, staff, and senior leadership. Excellent diplomatic skills to effectively engage faculty artists and designers. Builds consensus and trust among diverse academic, administrative, and operational stakeholders. Project Management: Strong project management skills to balance long-term institutional deadlines with everyday operational demands. Ability to apply structured assessment frameworks to ambiguous, open-ended creative disciplines. Designs efficient institutional workflows that minimize administrative burden on staff.
