Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years in a related field, experience in a large hospital preferred. License: Any state RN license acceptable; temporary license may be applied for. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips. Experience with advanced care level drips is required. Must float to all step-down and advanced care units. Ability to pass an online EKG competency assessment prior to starting the assignment. Description: This position involves advanced care level nursing responsibilities. The unit cares for mixed acuity patients. Nurses are required to have experience with advanced care and step down units. Patient ratios are typically targeted at 1:4, but may increase to 1:5 or 1:6. The unit may utilize a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs work together. The goal of this model is to enhance workflow and patient care. Nurses may operate under team nursing or primary nursing based on unit needs. Floating to other units is a requirement based on the discretion of the facility. The patient population includes those with conditions like chest pain, syncope, vertigo, CHF, and COPD. Daily census is approximately 32 with a 40-bed capacity. Special procedures may include post-cardiac angiograms, pre/post-hemodialysis management, and care for patients undergoing IV antibiotic therapy. The expected length of stay for patients is less than 24 hours. A heavy cardiac patient population is present. All staff must comply with required vaccinations as specified. Candidates must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. No more than 14 days of requested time off will be accepted during the contract period.
