About the Position

# Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical Resource Pool Registered Nurse – North Dakota

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Fargo, North Dakota

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week (overtime billed after 48); every other weekend and holiday required. Daily call-in to receive unit assignment for each shift.

Highlights:

• Float pool position across multiple medical-surgical units within a Level 1 trauma center with 250+ beds
• Diverse patient populations including oncology, general med-surg, trauma, cardiac, neuro, observation, medical behavioral, and innovations units
• Epic EMR system utilized throughout facility
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 (day shift), 1:5-6 (night shift)
• Comprehensive orientation includes full shifts on multiple campuses plus team expectations training
• Opportunity to work across multiple campuses and build diverse clinical experience

Requirements:

• Active North Dakota RN license or Compact state license (must be submitted with application)
• Minimum 1 year recent medical-surgical experience in a busy hospital (minimum 200 beds required)
• Previous float pool or resource pool experience strongly preferred
• Experience in a Level 2 or higher trauma center
• Epic EMR experience required
• BLS certification (must be AHA)
• NIHSS certification
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility
• Previous travel healthcare experience required (first-time travelers considered only with resource pool/float pool primary experience)
• Willingness to float between campuses and within medical-surgical cluster units

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive head-to-toe assessments
• Medication administration via multiple routes
• Care plan formulation and documentation
• Wound, line, and drain care management
• Utilize equipment including Epic EMR, Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vitals machines
• Provide care across medical-surgical specialty units ranging from 24 to 47 beds
