Director of NursingThe Director of Nursing (DON) oversees faculty and student success in the nursing program. The DON is encouraged to meet with faculty, staff, and students regularly to ensure the Program is educationally and administratively sound. The DON is accountable for the quality of education, curriculum, and student outcomes, including graduation, employment, ATI Pulse and NCLEX pass rates. Directors should be involved in all aspects of the Nursing Program, including meeting with prospective students, and working closely with all clinical lab and externship sites. Overall, the Director of Nursing provides academic leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction to ensure the highest standards of nursing education are maintained.The following are the education, qualifications, and competencies required:Must be able to meet BRN requirements and approval for Director positionA master's or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education, or administrationOne (1) years' experience as an administrator with validated performance of administrative responsibilitiesTwo (2) years' experience teaching in pre- or post-licensure registered nursing programsOne (1) years' continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience direct patient care as a registered nurseA minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching in a pre- or post-licensure registered nursing program or equivalentHold a current California registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in CaliforniaMust motivate instructors to provide a quality education while also fostering student interest and engagementDemonstrate strong leadership and motivation skillsPossess strong oral and written communication skillsMeet all applicable regulatory requirements (ACCSC, BVNPT or BRN, state regulatory agencies)Embrace the use of technology in education with strong technical skills, experience with Paylocity, Canvas, Microsoft Teams is preferredPossess a sound knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of employers in the field(s) in which they teachMust have strong technical skills including all computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skillsExperienced with Canvas or related LMS usage for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, gradebook, modules) is preferredOnline, hybrid, remote or blended teaching experience is highly desirableOverall responsibilities include:Recruit and onboard qualified faculty membersManage timecard submissions and approve faculty requests for paid time off (PTO)Maintain organized records of faculty files and credentials, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory agenciesPerform and document classroom observations to ensure quality teaching practices and adherence to program objectivesConduct and document quarterly review and assessments of faculty membersManage scheduling and LMS usage for instructionProvide recommendations for clinical placements, ensuring alignment with program goalsServe as a substitute when faculty members are unavailableSupport NCLEX preparation activities and track exam outcomes. Goal: 90% student participation. Responsible for NCLEX State Board Minimum Pass rate of 85%Track and analyze programmatic metrics, providing insights to enhance overall program effectivenessEnsure curriculum consistency through monitoring and reviewing faculty proposed course content changesComplete Substantive Interaction Forms quarterlyRepresent the Nursing program to the professional community as well as regulatory agenciesMaintain, enforce, and evaluate written policies and procedures that required all students, faculty, and preceptors who participate in clinical practice setting to be physically and mentally able to provide safe client careParticipate in orientation, graduation ceremonies, PAC, curriculum committee and other educational events/committees as requiredRegularly participate in professional growth activities and provide documentation of these activitiesAdvise students with academic or professional conduct issuesEnsure the program attains appropriate graduation, exam passage, and employment benchmarksPossess a thorough knowledge and understanding of all school policies and participate in their implementation and enforcementMaintain an attitude of enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate with othersTreat students with fairness, respect, impartiality, and objectivityFollow the ACCSC faculty and administrative Individual Development PlanReview student progress to ensure they will graduate as qualified entry-level professionals in their field of studyEnsure student progress is tracked & reported as specified by the DOESupport the admissions team and participate in panel meetings for potential students as applicableAssist with faculty agreements working alongside the DOE, maintain and implement a curriculum that is current and adapts to new developments in healthcareCoordinate meetings and training for Program facultyAdditional hours will be in administration working with students, clinical site development, tutorials, and any other administrative work necessary to make the program successfulAdditional activities and responsibilities as the Director of Nursing may be added at Smith Chason's discretionThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
