Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with CPR certification. To provide purposeful health services to district students and staff and act as a health resource 2. Must meet any other certification requirements of the state.Responsibilities1. Provides nursing services as defined in The Illinois Nursing Act (III.Rev.Stat. 1985, ch 111, par. 3405 (4)(1).2. Provide urgent health care services as needed.3. Record all student contacts.4. Identifies student health problems, makes parent recommendations for further diagnosis, treatment and remediation, and follow-up for each referral.5. Carry out the care plan of students with special needs as directed by the Health Services Coordinator.6. Plan, coordinate screening, referral, and follow up for vision, hearing physicals, and immunizations.7. Administers and monitors medication and treatment given in school (subject to local policy regarding the administration of medication at school).8. Acts as liaison between home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector.9. Consults with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters.10. Assists the Health Services Coordinator with inputting and maintaining up to date health records on all students.11. Prepares and submits health data and reports as necessary.12. Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions at each building.13. Assists in health instruction, family education, and other health topics at each building.14. Serves as educator to alert staff to students with known health problems.15. Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health service and health curriculum as directed.16. Provides staff training in blood borne pathogens, Diabetes, food allergies, EpiPen administration and asthma.17. Monitors any medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school.18. Assist staff with proactively encouraging healthy mental and physical development.19. Collaborate with faculty, parents and students on health and safety awareness programs.20. Perform all other duties as assigned by Administration or the Health Service Coordinator.
