Direct Response Copywriter (Performance-Driven | DTC Growth) Location: Remote Reports to: Director of Marketing Company: Truly Free Home Salary: $80,000 - 100,000 We will also consider W-2 and/or part time candidates. Role Overview We’re looking for a performance-obsessed Direct Response Copywriter who understands that great copy doesn’t just sound good—it converts. This role sits at the intersection of creative strategy and revenue growth, owning the messaging that drives customer acquisition, retention, and LTV across our DTC channels. You’ll write high-converting copy for paid media, email/SMS, landing pages, and funnels—while continuously testing, iterating, and optimizing based on performance data. For the next 5–6 months, you’ll also support blog and SEO content as we expand our organic footprint. This is a temporary component and will not dilute the primary focus on direct response performance. What You’ll Own Direct Response Copy (Core Focus) Write and optimize conversion-driven copy across: Paid social ads (Meta, TikTok, YouTube) Email & SMS campaigns and flows Landing pages and product detail pages Advertorials and funnels Develop high-performing hooks, angles, and messaging frameworks Partner with creative and media teams to concept and iterate ad creative Continuously test variations (headlines, offers, positioning) to improve KPIs Analyze performance data and translate insights into new copy directions Testing & Optimization Own copy testing roadmap and iteration cycles Identify winning messaging and scale it across channels Balance speed and quality—shipping frequently while improving performance Temporary Blog & SEO Support (5–6 months) Write or support blog content aligned with SEO and brand goals Translate product and customer insights into educational, conversion-aware content Collaborate with SEO or content teams to maintain consistency in voice and messaging What Success Looks Like Your copy directly improves conversion rates, CTR, and CAC efficiency. You consistently generate new winning angles and hooks You contribute to scalable creative that drives measurable revenue growth You operate with a test → learn → iterate mindset, not “one-and-done” writing What You Bring 3+ years of direct response copywriting experience (DTC or performance marketing preferred) Proven track record of writing copy that drives measurable results Deep understanding of: Customer psychology and buyer intent Offers, hooks, and urgency Paid social and lifecycle marketing ecosystems Experience working closely with paid media, creative, or growth teams Comfort using data to inform decisions (you don’t need to be an analyst, but you use performance insights) Bonus Points Experience in DTC, CPG, or subscription businesses Familiarity with platforms like Klaviyo, Meta Ads, or TikTok Ads Exposure to SEO or long-form content strategy How You Work You think like a marketer, not just a writer You move fast and iterate faster You care about performance over opinions You’re constantly studying what’s working in the market—and applying it Why This Role is Different This isn’t a traditional copywriting role.
