Job Responsibilities Registered Dietitian Department: SAAS UHS Health Services Advertised Salary Range Part/Full Time: Full Time Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on student health and wellness? Do you enjoy providing 1:1 support for students with complex health needs, including eating disorder care and chronic disease management? Would you enjoy engaging in a campus community through interactive nutrition programs, cooking demonstrations, and outreach initiatives? The Registered Dietitian (RD) delivers nutrition education and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT ) to a university community, including students, faculty, and staff. This role focuses on the collaborative management of eating disorders and provides MNT for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, and food allergies or intolerances, using a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size (HAES ) approach. The RD also supports nutrition-related programming, including cooking demonstrations, classes, outreach initiatives, and health promotion activities. Additionally, the position contributes to training and education for patients, staff, providers, interns, and peer educators, and reports to the Director of Student Well-Being. Day To Day For This Position Provides nutrition therapy to students, faculty, and staff, following guidelines set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the SC Dept of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and USC Student Health Services. Plans, manages, and evaluates medical nutrition therapy and nutritional services for college students in targeted, high-risk populations, including individuals with eating disorders. Collaborates with Healthy Carolina to develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for students, faculty, and staff to increase nutrition-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, including supporting demonstration kitchen efforts and leading cooking classes. Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions) Eligibility for registration to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Knowledge and experience in working in College Health with sports nutrition, eating disorders, clinical nutrition and chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, celiac, Crohn’s, etc.) Commitment to a weight-neutral, HAES approach. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of the science and practice of human nutrition, dietetics standards of practice, food composition, major nutrient sources, and the social, cultural, and economic factors that influence nutritional status and dietary habits. Working knowledge of human behavior and behavior-change strategies related to eating habits. Knowledge of best practices in collegiate health promotion and public health, with an understanding of student development, emerging need, and interests. Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Fluent in English. Proficient in desktop publishing, word processing, and spreadsheet applications. Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community agencies, and the general public. Skilled in providing supportive counseling and training on health and wellness topics to students and members of the University community. Able to maintain client focus throughout the day during one-on-one consultations, effectively manage time to balance administrative and programmatic responsibilities within patient flow, and take initiative while applying innovative approaches to meet organizational and client needs.
