Med-Surg Nurse (RN) - Topsham, ME

Schedule/Hours:

• Contract position (13 weeks)
• Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per contract
• Up to 16 hours of orientation (unpaid)

Qualifications:

• Valid RN licensure required with a clean record; candidates with licensure actions or background hits are not eligible.
• Active BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of previous nursing experience preferred, ideally in a medical-surgical or post-surgical environment.
• Proven competency in managing restraints, seclusion, monitoring, assessment, and patient care for those in restraint or seclusion, validated by your employing agency.
• Willingness and ability to work as Charge Nurse as needed.
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility and must not have been previously employed at this healthcare center.
• Strong interpersonal and clinical assessment skills.

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care within the nursing process, consistently upholding the highest standards.
• Complete thorough admission and ongoing patient assessments, actively including patients and caregivers in care planning and updates.
• Accurately administer IV medications, therapies, blood products, and document according to clinical protocols.
• Provide skilled nursing care for post-surgical patients, including monitoring vitals, responding to changes, and coordinating with the healthcare team.
• Demonstrate leadership and adaptability, including fulfilling Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned.
• Maintain all documentation and uphold compliance with facility policies and state/federal regulations.
