About the Position

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 12 weeks Shift: 5x 8's every other weekend Hours per Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Patient preparation - Computerized tomographic radiological procedures - General diagnostic radiology examinations - Anatomical structure assessment - CT scan operation - Intravenous contrast media administration - Power injector usage - Sterile diagnostic procedures Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about patient medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes the anatomical structure of patients, sets up equipment, and performs CT scans. Manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information. Administers intravenous contrast media and monitors patients for possible reactions. Provides immediate care to patients if reactions occur. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures demonstrating principles of radiation protection. Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS. Completes all study indexing within the Radiology Information System (RIS). Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies. Demonstrates team member standards of excellence. Performs all documentation in the medical record and within the Radiology Information System to support all clinical and billing functions. May work in a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation without proper precautions. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment or patients. Demonstrates customer service values and personal qualities such as initiative and teamwork. Be flexible and committed to the team concept.
