District Support Pharmacist Full Time

Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health, the District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) help transform health care by providing high-quality pharmacy services across district retail locations. DSPs manage pharmacy operations, support scheduling gaps, and serve as a proxy for the Pharmacy Manager during bench shifts. Responsibilities Cover pharmacist shifts across the district as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator. Oversee pharmacy operations and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Assume day‑to‑day duties of the Pharmacy Manager when acting as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Provide compassionate care, resolve insurance or medication issues, and coach the pharmacy team. Offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization skills. Manage pharmacy inventory across all worked pharmacies, safeguarding cold‑chain products. Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive team. Keep clinical and technical skills up to date through required trainings and CME. Support patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception). Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Show strong attention and focus, concentrating on tasks for extended periods and pivoting quickly to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Provide friendly customer service and team orientation, recognizing and responding to patient reactions. Use verbal and written communication skills with patients and colleagues, practicing active listening. Apply mathematical reasoning to determine dispensing quantities. Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions by selecting appropriate solutions. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and stretch. Move fingers repetitively for typing, picking, or pinching. Use hand and arm for placing or lifting items. Stoop to a considerable degree and bend the spine at the waist. Maintain close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing or viewing a computer screen. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs, frequently lift up to 10 lbs, or lift negligible weight regularly. Communicate detailed information orally with accuracy. Receive detailed information through oral communication. Required Qualifications Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings. Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $60.00 – $76.00 per hour. Actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
