About the Role
The Company is in search of a Corporate Vice President, State Governmental Affairs Lobbyist to join their team. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player, responsible for engaging in policy education and advocacy activities with state legislatures and insurance regulators. This role involves consulting with business experts, governmental affairs colleagues, and relevant trade associations to develop and implement advocacy strategies that align with the company's interests. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years' experience in a legislative, regulatory, or governmental affairs environment, with a strong preference for those with a background in the insurance industry and state government. Key responsibilities include building and sustaining relationships with policymakers, providing strategic leadership on issue areas, and shaping the company's agenda through close collaboration with senior executives. Applicants for this position at the company should possess a proven record of successful engagement with policymakers, strong advocacy skills, and the ability to analyze and summarize legislative and regulatory proposals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work with a diverse team and ensure that the company's agenda is prioritized. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, and an advanced degree, including a law degree, is a plus. The role requires the candidate to be within a commutable distance of Sacramento or New York City and to be willing to travel as needed.
