Position Description

We are seeking experienced Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurses (ED RN) to join our team in a high-volume, Level I trauma center. The ideal candidates will have a passion for providing care to children and young adults aged up to 25 years of age in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)
• Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Variable Shifts: 0700, 1100, 1400, and 1900

Availability

Available start dates: December 14th only. The traveler must be available to work all holidays, although there may be an opportunity to accommodate one holiday off (not pre-approved). No requests for time off (RTO) are accepted.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ED RN experience required
• Experience in a children's hospital ED is highly preferred
• Certifications required:

  • BLS
  • MAB
  • PALS

Responsibilities

The Pediatric ED RN will be responsible for:

• Providing high-quality care in a busy emergency department setting
• Managing a range of pediatric medical emergencies and trauma
• Utilizing advanced medical equipment and protocols to ensure patient safety
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Conducting triage assessments efficiently within designated areas

Patient Care Details

• Average volume of over 400 patients during the winter season
• Daily Patient Care for neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatrics
• Support offered from various interdisciplinary services, including Respiratory Services and Social Services

Unit Information

• High-volume emergency department with 30 beds
• ED techs available to assist nurses effectively
• Environment includes 3-5 triage areas, operating without designated holding units

Preferred Skills

• Experience with end-tidal CO2 monitoring
• Ability to handle acute psychotic episodes and manage violent behavior
• Competence in various emergency interventions, including sedation monitoring and airway management
• Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations and emergency medication administration
