Accountability, Compassion, Collaboration, Dedication, Integrity and Versatility; it's the FNL way.PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONThe Laboratory Animal Sciences Program (LASP) provides exceptional quality animal care and technical support services for animal research performed at the National Cancer Institute at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. LASP executes this mission by providing a broad spectrum of state-of-the-art technologies and services that are focused on the design, generation, characterization, and application of genetically engineered and biological animal models of human disease, which are aimed at the development of targeted diagnostics and therapies. LASP contributes to advancing human health, developing new treatments, and improving existing treatments for cancer and other diseases while ensuring safe and humane treatment of animalsKEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIESDesigning CRISPR-mediated experiments which include, but not limited to, gene knockouts, gene knock-ins, custom targeted libraries and apply these to both organoids and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)Interfacing with the collaborating investigators from the Standardized Organoid Modeling (SOM) center – providing guidance, consultation, and responding to queries in a timely mannerAssisting the laboratory director in project management and generating activity reportsPerforming CRISPR-mediated experiments in organoid and other 3D culture modelsIllumina-based targeted amplicon sequencingCloning plasmid constructs when neededContributing to manuscripts from both projects led by the GMC as well as supported by the GMCBASIC QUALIFICATIONSTo be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:Possession of a PhD or an MD degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
