Corporate Controller

Are you an Entrata expert who lives and breathes real estate accounting? Visual Property Management is hiring a Controller to own the full accounting function for a growing multifamily and mixed‑use portfolio - the owner reporting, the close, and the trust accounting our clients count on every month. We're a property manager, which means our numbers aren't just internal - they're a client deliverable and a responsibility. If you take pride in a clean close and reporting packages that never get questioned twice, we want to talk. This role is fully remote (U.S.) or based out of our New York office. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own the full monthly close across all managed properties and ownership entities Produce owner reporting packages - financials, GL, cash flow, bank recs, aged AR/AP, and narrative Run budget vs. actual variance analysis at the property and portfolio level Oversee AP and AR end to end - coding, approvals, payment runs, tenant billing, and collections Administer trust / owner‑fund accounting, security deposits, reserves, and owner distributions Handle high‑volume bank reconciliations and intercompany entries across many entities Manage CAM reconciliations and commercial lease billings for mixed‑use assets Lead the annual budget process alongside operations and ownership Own Entrata as the system of record and drive automation, accuracy, and reporting Build the SOPs, controls, and (over time) the team as the function scales WHAT YOU NEED Expert‑level, hands‑on Entrata experience - this is a hard requirement, not a nice‑to‑have 5+ years in real estate / property management accounting (third‑party / fee management strongly preferred) Deep command of AP, AR, monthly owner reporting, budget vs. actual, bank recs, and month‑end close Experience with trust / owner‑fund accounting and owner distributions Strong Excel and multi‑entity consolidation skills The organization and discipline to hit reporting deadlines across a large portfolio - every month NICE TO HAVE Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA track a plus Multifamily and mixed‑use/commercial experience, including CAM reconciliations Experience onboarding/offboarding properties through management transitions Cost segregation, depreciation, and multifamily tax strategy exposure Experience building or scaling an accounting function from the ground up WHY VISUAL PM You'll own the accounting function outright, work directly with ownership, and build the systems from a real seat at the table - not inherit someone else's mess or wait in line behind five layers of management.
