The Assistant Controller is responsible for external financial reporting, technical accounting and GAAP compliance, corporate consolidations, accounting and reporting for corporate functions, compliance with SOX and internal controls over financial reporting. The organization consists of approximately 7 direct reports and a number of indirect reports around the world.Job DescriptionThis role will be on a hybrid schedule based out of our Chicago office, applicants should expect to be in office one time per weekResponsibilities:Decision maker for accounting issues impacting the business worldwideClose involvement in the accounting aspects of acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and capital market transactionsLead the finance due diligence associated with potential acquisitions and divestituresReview revenue contracts for compliance with ASC 606 including performance obligations and revenue allocation and provide annual revenue trainings across the organizationSignificant interface with senior management, external auditors, legal counsel, treasury, tax, HR and strategyAnticipates the impact to Motorola Solutions of proposed business models, strategic initiatives and compliance/regulatory changes, including the impact to financial forecasts, financial IT systems, and financial processes and controlsManages relationship with the external auditor, interfaces with SEC on matters of interest, transaction structuring with external counsel and investment bankersPrepares comment letters on proposed U.S. and International accounting standardsLead the Company’s efforts to adopt new accounting standardsAdditional Skills/Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting preferred)Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent) preferred6+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance, including experience in technical accounting, financial reporting and accounting researchStrong background in accounting research and issue resolutionTechnical accounting skills, including sound understanding of revenue recognition and lease accounting literatureSignificant public accounting experience, Big Four experience preferredTarget Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $155,000 USDConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.Basic RequirementsBachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance with 6+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance1+ year(s) of experience in Technical Accounting, Financial Reporting and Accounting ResearchLegal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
