* Job Summary Job ID 299909 Position # 40108787 The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, in Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, to serve as a General Pediatrician. This position will provide clinical services for our pediatric Sickle Cell patient population. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities Associate Program Director - Pediatric Residency Program - 20%
Serve as an Associate Program Director for the Department of Pediatrics Residency Program. As Associate Program Director, the position will play a crucial role in supporting the Program Director and ensuring the residency program meets accreditation standards while providing a high quality educational experience for residents. Additional responsibilities include administrative support, curriculum development, resident supervision and education, collaboration with faculty, quality assurance, and leadership in the absence of the Program Director. Patient Care - 70%
The position will provide clinical care for the sickle cell pediatric patient population in the outpatient setting. Clinical care may also include outreach and telemedicine clinics. Clinical care would include but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering
and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, and patient/family education. The position will maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated, and share weekday, weekend, and holiday emergent/afterhours
call coverage. Teaching - 10%
Educational responsibilities include but are not limited to providing mentorship, clinical supervision and consultation to residents, medical students, and staff at MCG/AU. The position will provide a more in-depth educational experience for trainees in pediatrics.
Required Qualifications MD, DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Pediatrics. Must have or be able to obtain a state of Georgia medical license, obtain a federal DEA and be CPR certified. Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: - Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; - Evidence of ability as a teacher; - Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; - Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, - Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

College/Department Information The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class.
