About This Role

The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Center Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center's care. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to ensure that curriculum and classroom activities are properly delivered, and that the needs of the students and the goals of the center are met appropriately. The Assistant Director assures that the early childhood education program is distinctively Christian and developmentally appropriate. He/she understands the mission and ministry of the congregation and is responsible to staff, children, and families for the day-to-day operation of the program.

• Assume duties of Center Director and Teachers as needed during their absence.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards in accordance with Center guidelines and state and local requirements; implement improvements where needed.
• Maintain communication with families and community through appropriate outreach activities.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
• Responsible for the daily schedule and arranging for substitute coverage when needed.
• Pre-register and enroll students.
• Provide tours for prospective families.
• Maintain accurate and updated student files.
• Maintains current, accurate records for student immunizations.
• Ensures that proper student/teacher ratios are kept in all classrooms.

• Minimum of Associates Degree in ECE/Child Development and 5 years direct experience working in early childhood settings; or Bachelor's degree in ECE/Child Development and 3 years direct experience working with children ages birth-5.
• 3 – 5 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
• High energy.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• A strong background in and understanding of child development.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Holds active membership in professional organizations and stays up to date on best practices in ECE.
• Must clear full background check.
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm

It is well established that children learn best through active learning and play, especially at an early age. The church and school strive to reach out to families through worship, education, witness, service, and fellowship. Our Academy's programs provide care and education for children from 6 weeks - 5 years.
