Project Engineer

Civil Engineering PositionCivil Engineering graduate working in the planning, design, construction inspection, and maintenance of a variety of municipal or public works projects and facilities. NOTE: This position is assigned to the Public Works Engineering.Illustrative Examples of Essential DutiesReviews field surveys to interpret information required for the design and construction of public works projectsReviews plans for public works projects for compliance with standardsPrepares engineering reports, basis of design reports, and regulatory compliance filings, ensures that reports are detailed, methodical, and provide clear logic for engineReviews permit applications for proposed utility installations and/or construction; issues recommendations to supervisors on effects to existing or proposed utilities or rigActs as liaison between City and consulting engineers, utility companies, engineering firms, and/or city departments engaged in constructionAssists in the supervision of inspection of public works projects, including, but not limited to roads, bridges, water supply systems, streetlights, sanitary sewer systems, aPerforms related work as requiredMinimum RequirementsCommunicates clearly, concisely, and comprehensibly in both written and verbal formatGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering with one (1) year full-time paid civil engineer experience.OR Florida registered Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) with one (1) year full-time paid Civil engineer experience Physical Requirements: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public via the telephone and personal contactPhysical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, copier, and fax machineAbility to stand, walk, move, or kneel may be required to perform dutiesPhysical capability to effectively use field inspection instruments including, but not limited to: cameras, levels, measuring tapes, survey tools, measuring rods, measuring wheels, and paper, bound, or electronic inspection forms/books.
