Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift | Three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating nights, weekends, and holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on an inpatient acute unit (32 private beds) for patients with a wide range of conditions including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal conditions, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, and neuro/surgical/cardiac diagnoses
• Manage and monitor patients requiring Bipap, CPAP, tracheostomies, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, and dialysis
• Care for post-ablation and cath lab patients as needed
• Read and interpret telemetry monitoring for assigned patients
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3–4 patients per nurse; float to ICU (2:1 ratio) or general medical floors (5–6:1 ratio) as needed, with travel staff floating first
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR and administer medications via Pyxis dispensing system

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure applicable to the state of Illinois
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret telemetry
• Comfort and proficiency with chest tube management
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Extensive ICU experience (may qualify candidate for ICU float assignments)
• Prior travel nursing experience in an IMC, PCU, or stepdown setting
• Experience managing complex patient populations including tracheostomy, dialysis, and post-procedural cardiac patients
