Software Engineer II

The Software Engineer II is a hands-on technical leader within the Software Development team, responsible for the architectural integrity and performance of core applications and the coordination of day-to-day development work. Working primarily with ColdFusion and React, this individual translates business requirements into technical solutions, guides Software Engineer I team members, and drives assigned projects from planning through completion. The position combines software development with work allocation, mentoring, progress monitoring, and stakeholder communication to support reliable, timely delivery.

Key duties include leading system architecture, defining coding standards, architecting complex API integrations, optimizing development processes, owning full-stack applications, planning and delivering projects, allocating and following up on work, leading and mentoring the team, reporting progress and escalating risks, coordinating with cross-functional teams, ensuring quality and release readiness, supporting application issues, and maintaining accountability.

Required skills and abilities include proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), React, ColdFusion, MySQL, REST and SOAP methodologies, software design and architectural patterns, Git, project/ticket tracking software, CI/CD, and problem-solving skills. Leadership, project coordination, communication, self-management, and professional judgment are also essential.

Education and experience requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Application Development, or a related field, with a minimum of 2–3 years of professional software development experience. Technical experience in JavaScript/React, APIs/Integrations, CSS/Frontend, and Database/Backend is preferred. AWS Certified Developer Associate or similar development-centric certifications are also preferred.

Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and the ability to lift 25 pounds at times.
