The target hiring range for this role is $25.38- $28.58A day in the life of an ACU ACCOUNTANT II:Prepare and review complex general ledger reconciliations and account activity, identify the cause of discrepancies, recommend corrective entries, and coordinate resolution with appropriate departments or service providers.Complete assigned daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities accurately and within established close and reporting deadlines.Assist in month-end close proceduresEnsure accurate accounting for the fixed asset and prepaid asset portfolios. Prepare depreciation schedules and catalog furniture, fixtures, and equipmentAssist with the accounts payable processPrepare recurring and nonroutine journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and corrections, with appropriate analysis and supporting documentation.Work with Controller and other Accounting staff to prepare for annual external audits and NCUA examinationsRespond to accounting-related questions from branches and departments, research transaction discrepancies, and provide accurate guidance or route matters to the appropriate resource.Provide exceptional service to all members, volunteers, staff, and service providersAssist in the preparation of the quarterly NCUA Call Report and other regulatory reportsAssist with credit union investment functions including purchases, balancing, and recordkeepingProvide cross-training and technical support to other Accounting team members.Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencyAssist in reviewing and updating departmental proceduresPerform complex accounting tasks with minimal oversightApply and evaluate internal controls within assigned accounting processes and promptly communicate identified control gaps or unusual activity.Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, consistent with the general scope and level of the position.Education:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience. Two years of progressively responsible accounting experience required; financial institution experience preferred.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and PracticesProficient using computers and software including Symitar, Excel, Microsoft Word, 10-Key calculator, and other office equipment.Attention to detailAbility to problem solve and research when necessaryKnowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and proceduresMust have excellent interpersonal skills; be highly motivated and well organizedAbility to work well under pressureAbility to communicate clearly both orally and in writingAbility to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential informationIntermediate mathematical and account skillsACU is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Disability/Veteran employer.
