Position SummaryThe Title IX Coordinator provides leadership for the University's efforts to foster a safe, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environment where all students and employees can thrive. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Experience, the Title IX Coordinator leads the University's response to matters involving Title IX, bias incidents, and hazing prevention while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state civil rights, campus safety, and anti-hazing laws.The Title IX Coordinator advances a comprehensive strategy centered on prevention, education, coordinated response, supportive measures, and institutional accountability. Through collaboration with campus partners, the Coordinator works to reduce barriers to student success, strengthen campus climate, and promote a community grounded in dignity, safety, belonging, and respect.Title IX Compliance & ResolutionServe as the University's designated Title IX Coordinator and oversee compliance with Title IX, VAWA, the Clery Act, and related federal and state regulations.Coordinate prompt, equitable, trauma-informed, and impartial responses to reports of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, retaliation, and related prohibited conduct.Coordinate supportive measures for complainants, respondents, and affected community members.Oversee investigations, informal resolutions, hearings, appeals, and case resolutions consistent with institutional policy and legal requirements.Recruit, train, and supervise Deputy Title IX Coordinators, investigators, hearing officers, and decision-makers.Maintain policies, procedures, documentation, and institutional records necessary to demonstrate compliance.Serve as the University's primary resource regarding Title IX rights, reporting options, and supportive measures.Student Advocacy & Coordinated SupportEnsure students involved in Title IX, bias response, or hazing matters receive timely supportive measures that promote safety, well-being, persistence, and equitable access to educational opportunities.Partner with the Director of Student Success, Coordinator of Student Well-Being & Advocacy, Counseling Services, Accessibility Services, Residential & Commuter Life, Academic Success, and other campus partners to coordinate individualized support.Participate in coordinated care discussions, when appropriate and consistent with privacy requirements.Promote trauma-informed, student-centered, and restorative practices that prioritize student well-being while balancing institutional responsibilities.Assist students in navigating institutional processes while fostering informed decision-making and access to appropriate resources.Bias Response & Campus ClimateCoordinate the University's Bias Response Team and oversee implementation of the Bias Incident Response Protocol.Receive, assess, and coordinate institutional responses to reports of bias incidents.Ensure individuals impacted by bias receive supportive outreach, referrals, and follow-up.Convene appropriate campus partners to coordinate responses and recommendations.Monitor bias trends and recommend educational initiatives, policy enhancements, and campus climate improvements.Prepare annual reports regarding bias incidents, response efforts, and campus climate initiatives.Promote restorative responses that foster dialogue, accountability, education, and community healing whenever appropriate.Hazing Prevention & ResponseServe as the University's lead administrator for hazing prevention, reporting, education, and institutional compliance.Coordinate the University's response to reports of hazing in collaboration with Student Organizations, Athletics, Residential & Commuter Life, Public Safety, Academic Affairs, Human Resources, and other campus partners.Ensure institutional compliance with applicable federal and state anti-hazing laws and reporting requirements.Coordinate supportive measures and referrals for students impacted by hazing.Develop and maintain institutional hazing policies, reporting protocols, and educational resources.Lead annual hazing prevention initiatives for student organizations, athletics, fraternity and sorority life, and other campus communities.Monitor trends related to hazing and recommend policy, educational, and organizational improvements that strengthen student safety and accountability.Prevention, Education & OutreachDevelop and implement a comprehensive prevention and education strategy related to Title IX, bias response, hazing prevention, healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention, respectful community engagement, and help-seeking behaviors.Partner with the Coordinator of Student Well-Being & Advocacy to deliver proactive educational programming that promotes student well-being, healthy communities, and personal responsibility.Integrate prevention initiatives into Orientation, Welcome Weekend, Peer Mentor training, Residence Life, Athletics, student organizations, and leadership programs.Provide ongoing consultation and education for students, faculty, staff, and campus partners regarding reporting obligations, supportive measures, institutional policies, and available resources.Utilize campus climate assessments, student feedback, and institutional data to strengthen prevention strategies and educational initiatives. Other ResponsibilitiesParticipate in divisional meetings, professional development opportunities, and relevant professional associations.Perform other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMaster 's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Law, Social Work, Counseling, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in Title IX, civil rights, compliance, student affairs, or a related field.Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, the Clery Act, FERPA, and related federal and state regulations.Experience conducting investigations, coordinating supportive measures, and managing complex, sensitive cases.Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed, equitable, and student-centered practices.Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.Ability to exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced Title IX Coordinator and Investigator certification.Experience working in higher education.Experience leading institutional prevention and education initiatives.Experience coordinating bias response or campus climate efforts.Knowledge of restorative practices and alternative resolution processes.Experience collaborating across multiple institutional divisions to support student success and well-being.Capital University is currently unable to sponsor employment Visas or consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship.For more information on Capital University, visit our website at University offers a rich benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, retirement, family education benefits, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and free parking.Capital University is an equal opportunity employer.
