The Manager, CAF Financial Accounting role is vital to enabling the business to operate optimally through oversight and effective execution of accounting processes and practices. What you’ll do Have effective oversight of cyclical accounting processes, including but not limited to, general ledger closing procedures, preparing/recording journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, financial statement analysis and compiling financial reporting and footnote support for inclusion in SEC filings and earnings releases. Review work completed by the CAF Financial Accounting Team, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, and quarterly analysis documents. Partner with and be the primary resource for Home Office Accounting, Treasury/External Vendor Relationship, Loss Forecasting, and various other CAF departments to provide accounting and data support as Lead all external audit processes, including preparation of client-prepared schedules for quarterly reviews, annual audit and SOX 404 testing, and maintenance of financial reporting process documentation. Analyze data to identify and interpret trends; make recommendations for improvements to the necessary business areas. Participate in and/or lead special projects (e.g. implementation/maintenance of new accounting standards and/or systems) and meetings. Select, lead, manage and engage a team of salaried associates who perform the accounting, reconciliation and reporting functions. As a Manager, you will serve as CarMax Auto Finance’s steadfast resource for all recurring accounting processes, having an intimate expertise with various company financial systems. You’ll support the business by proactively and independently seeking opportunities for improvement – conceptualizing the “big picture” while maintaining keen attention to detail. A candidate for this role will have strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills and be effective and efficient in prioritizing and time management. Qualifications and requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred. Five years of general accounting experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting or financial reporting. Exposure to SEC reporting requirements and previous experience preparing and/or analyzing financial statements preferred. Three or more years of experience leading teams to achieve common goals, including supervising direct reports.
