PCI CORRECTION OFFICER

Responsibilities Maintain control of the institution to ensure safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas. Ensure assigned area is clean, safe, and secure. Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers. Operate automotive vehicles for perimeter security and inmate transportation. Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches. Complete required reports and serve on committees. Prevent escapes or incidents threatening security. Use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force when necessary to detain or secure inmates. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Valid driver’s license is required for transportation assignments; a commercial driver’s license is needed for commercial vehicles. Successfully pass the correction officer assessment within the past 24 months or be a current Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction employee with prior certification in the correction officer position. Probationary period of 365 days. Demonstrated situational awareness, listening, observation, teamwork, ethics, and values. Compensation Newly hired Correction Officer will be hired at step 1 ($24.88/hour) and will move to step 2 ($25.61/hour) after 6 months of employment. Earn an additional $0.60 per hour when working the 2nd or 3rd shift. Schedule & Location Full‑time position at Pickaway Correctional Institution, Pickaway County, Ohio, United States (Orient). Union
