Certified Medical Assistant (Float)

Job Details: Job Location: 10670 N CENTRAL EXPY SUITE 120 - DALLAS, TX 75231, Salary Range: $20.00 Hourly, Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Duties Room patients and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and document patient medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Assist providers during examinations and minor office procedures. Perform EKGs, spirometry, hearing and vision screenings, and other diagnostic tests as ordered. Administer medications and immunizations as directed and permitted by state regulations. Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, preventive care, and follow-up instructions. Monitor and manage clinical supplies, vaccines, and equipment. Administer vaccines, TB tests, blood draws, audiology testing, eye exams, ECGs, testing swabs (Flu, RSV, COVID, and Strep), and other duties that are deemed clinically appropriate and necessary Administrative Duties Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Schedule appointments, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up visits. Process prescription refill requests according to office protocols. Obtain prior authorizations and assist with insurance-related documentation. Answer telephone calls, respond to patient portal messages, and relay information to providers. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Care Coordination Assist with chronic disease management programs for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and COPD. Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, pharmacies, and community resources. Support preventive health initiatives, including annual wellness visits and immunization programs. Participate in quality improvement and population health activities. Skills and Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform clinical procedures and operate medical equipment. Work Environment Fast-paced outpatient primary care/internal medicine clinic. Frequent interaction with patients, families, providers, and staff. Exposure to communicable diseases and biohazardous materials consistent with healthcare settings. Qualifications: Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required (federal and state). Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required. Minimum of one year of medical assistant experience in primary care, family practice, or internal medicine preferred. Proficiency with EClinicalWorks (preferred) or any Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, and clinical procedures.
