The Outside Sales Representative generates wholesale and food service customer sales, either telephonically or through personal contact in the field. The Outside Sales Representative ensures that all produce is inspected to meet the customer specifications and that orders are distributed accurately and timely by communicating order details to the shipping department. The Outside Sales Representative may have additional buying responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Sales Managers. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Requirements Duties and Responsibilities Generate wholesale and food service customer sales, either telephonically or through personal field contact. Ensure all produce is inspected to meet customer specifications. Distribute orders accurately and timely by communicating order details to the shipping department. May have additional buying responsibilities as deemed necessary by Sales Managers. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external River City Produce customers. Establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedules to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors. Perform customer order collection and entry using company software (Produce Pro). Visually inspect produce prior to distribution to customers. Distribute customer price lists and other marketing materials as requested. Perform buying functions as deemed necessary by the Sales Managers. Responsible for the overall sales and relationship management efforts for existing and prospective customers within your assigned territory, including pursuing new customers, deepening and strengthening existing customer relationships, and sales territory management. Leverage resources to increase growth. Submit activity and results reports such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses. Frequently visit customers to ensure customer satisfaction. Perform other related tasks, as requested by manager. Physical/Mental Requirements Must be able to sit for up to 6-9 hours daily to perform job duties. Must be able to stoop, squat, bend and/or twist to perform various job functions. Must be able to stand intermittently and occasionally climb up and down one flight of stairs as needed to get to a conference room. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance during product inspection period within the distribution center. Must be able to reach overhead, forward, back and down to perform various job functions. Must be able to have corrected vision to. Be aware of surroundings and location of resources and tools needed. Assist in answering inbound telephone calls as needed. Must be able to read computer monitors, invoices, posted notifications, etc. in order to perform various job functions. Environmental conditions Must be able to work around noise and/or vibration generated by warehouse equipment. Must be able to work around fumes, dust, gases and odors. Must be able to work in cold warehouse environments (33°- 56°F) as required by the job. Must be alert and able to identify a hazard, should one occur, by reporting immediately or, if directed, by taking corrective measures. Work Experience Requirements 2 years experience in sales environment, preferably within the produce industry. Ability to accurately and efficiently handle multiple tasks in a busy office environment. Adept at learning new concepts, ideas and processes. Flexibility a must. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications. Working knowledge of keyboarding and basic computer applications to train on company software, Produce Pro. Education and Skills Requirements High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or Communications preferred. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
