Job Description

The Repair Maintenance Technician sets up, maintains, tests, adjusts, and supports manufacturing machinery and related processes, including dies and molds. This role focuses on high-precision preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting a wide range of tooling and production equipment, and ensuring equipment operates reliably within extremely tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, test, and adjust manufacturing machinery and associated processes, including dies and molds.
• Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and address problematic manufacturing issues before they impact operations.
• Troubleshoot a wide spectrum of tooling and production equipment, including both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics accurately to support machine setup, repair, and optimization.
• Work consistently with extremely tight tolerances, including tolerances within 0.0001 inches, to ensure high-precision output.
• Use a variety of precision measuring devices such as depth micrometers, step micrometers, and dial indicators to verify dimensions and quality.
• Operate and, when needed, set up and run surface grinders to support tooling and component repair.
• Perform basic machinist tasks, including general die mechanics, bench work, and soldering, as needed for equipment repair and maintenance.
• Support electrical systems, including wiring, control panels, proximity sensors, servo motors, production cameras, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on PLC-controlled systems and related electrical components.
• Build, wire, and assemble control panels and related electrical assemblies as required.
• Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders.
• Use MS Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook to track work, report issues, and support communication.
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to all department safety rules and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Work safely in environments where noise, hazardous materials, and chemicals may be present, following all safety protocols.
• Meet physical requirements of the role, including sitting or standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• Experience as a maintenance or equipment technician supporting manufacturing operations.
• Ability to read and interpret product blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work with extremely tight tolerances, including tolerances within 0.0001 inches.
• Proficiency using precision measuring devices such as depth micrometers, step micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Basic machinist skills, including general die mechanics and bench work.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment.
• Mechanical and electrical experience, including wiring, schematic reading, assembly, and control panel work.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Capability to sit or stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
• Willingness to adhere to department safety rules and regulations, including use of protective gear.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Correctable vision to 20/40.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with proximity sensors, servo motors, production cameras, and related electrical components.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs.
• Tool and machine experience, including soldering and general die mechanics.
• Experience as a panel builder or PLC technician.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
• 2-year or 4-year degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
• Tool & Die or Electrical Journeyman certification (a plus).
• Experience in panel building, electrical wiring, and control panel assembly.
• Ability to read and work from electrical schematics.
• Experience with PM maintenance and troubleshooting on both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Relevant experience may supplement or replace formal educational requirements.

Work Environment

This role operates on a 3rd shift schedule from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with either a Sunday–Tuesday or Wednesday–Friday rotation determined upon completion of training. Initial training takes place on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for approximately 2–3 months. The facility is described as extremely clean and sleek, with a high-quality, well-equipped break room and an overall modern environment. You will work around manufacturing machinery and production equipment, where noise levels may require hearing protection and exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals requires the use of safety glasses and other protective gear. The role involves regular use of precision measuring devices, surface grinders, and both mechanical and electrical tools, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established safety rules and regulations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
