Position Overview The Associate Dean, Academic Affairs leads and manages the academic programs and faculty operations of Palm Beach State College, ensuring alignment with institutional mission and strategic goals while fostering an innovative learning environment. Responsibilities Oversee class scheduling, classroom evaluation, and responses to student academic concerns. Coordinate activities that support the campus and college mission, strategic goals, and objectives. Promote and foster an innovative teaching and learning environment conducive to academic excellence. Support the infusion of academic initiatives, including instructional technology, into the teaching and learning process. Manage budget and collaborate with and supervise faculty and staff. Develop, maintain, and execute administrative procedures and practices, including manuals for policies, procedures, rules, and standards. Provide direction in the design, development, and administration of campus programs and operations to achieve established College mission, goals, and objectives. Analyze class and program needs; recommend retention or deletion of courses. Develop and coordinate program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates; maintain calendars and adjust as required. Assist faculty in developing course and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities. Guide, lead, review, verify, observe, and manage the work of personnel reporting directly and indirectly. Develop and train staff; perform needs analysis, coordinate, deliver, evaluate, and monitor staff development programs. Develop long‑range and short‑term goals, objectives, priorities, and recommendations. Acknowledge, research, and respond to complaints regarding College programs and employees, including mediation activities. Attend community meetings of professional associations, business groups, and civic clubs; promote College programs as needed. Chair college‑wide committees and coordinate committee events. Prepare the annual and periodic budgets for the department. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in one of the designated disciplines. Four years of related experience, including supervising faculty, teaching experience, curriculum development, and at least two years as a department chair or similar role. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications and best practices in higher education pedagogy. Skilled in strategic thinking, effective data analysis, and implementing data‑informed decisions. Skilled in managing and resolving conflict positively, fact‑finding, analysis, and problem solving. Ability to motivate subordinates to exert effort necessary to attain organizational and departmental goals. Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management. Ability to establish ownership of areas of responsibility, anticipate and proactively execute tasks while identifying areas of enhancement, efficiencies, and solutions. Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service. Accurately manage a budget. Regular physical attendance required. Preferred Doctorate’s degree. Secondary or postsecondary work experience. Communicate information orally and in writing. Receive and understand information through oral and written communication. Proofread and check documents for accuracy. Compensation The minimum base pay for this position starts at $76,379.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
