Development and Community Engagement Manager

We are seeking a highly proactive, self-directed, and results-oriented Development & Community Engagement Manager who thrives in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. This individual will take ownership of fundraising, events, donor relationships, community engagement, and key programs with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, natural problem solver, and action-oriented professional who anticipates needs, follows through on commitments, and consistently meets deadlines. This role is ideal for a highly organized, creative, and proactive professional with a strong background in fundraising, nonprofit marketing and community outreach. Candidate must be comfortable working in a hands‑on role in a small nonprofit. This is not a desk-only position. The successful candidate will be comfortable building relationships, making sponsorship asks, representing Leukemia Texas in the community, and taking initiative to move projects forward. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Donor Engagement Develop, execute, and take ownership of annual fundraising strategies to meet revenue targets Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations Identify and pursue new funding opportunities in DFW and across Texas Track fundraising activity, sponsorship pipeline, and donor engagement metrics to evaluate performance and inform strategy Event Planning & Execution Lead planning and production of large-scale fundraising events including galas, special events, and community activations Actively solicit and secure event sponsorships, in‑kind donations, and vendor partnerships Oversee all logistics: venue coordination, budgeting, programming, vendors, CRM management and follow-up Marketing & Communications Create and implement marketing plans to promote events and fundraising campaigns Manage social media platforms, email campaigns, and digital outreach Collaborate with designers and content creators to develop print and digital materials Community & Vendor Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors, venues, and service providers Represent Leukemia Texas at community events, donor meetings, and networking opportunities Work directly with volunteers to organize events and outreach efforts Program Support: Patient Aid & Research Administer the Patient Aid program, including managing applications and grant disbursements Support the Research Grants committee in identifying and evaluating projects for potential funding Coordinate the distribution of Buddy Bags (comfort kits for leukemia patients) Expand outreach through delivery of Buddy Packs to leukemia patients Qualifications Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible nonprofit experience in fundraising, donor relations, event management, and community engagement in a paid professional role Familiarity with the Dallas‑Fort Worth donor and vendor landscape Proven ability to market and sell fundraising initiatives and sponsorships Demonstrated success securing sponsorships, cultivating donors, and managing projects independently. Proven track record of meeting deadlines, managing multiple priorities, and producing measurable results.
