Evelyn's House Residence Counselor (Full-Time)

Evelyn's House is our joint transitional and rapid rehousing program for homeless women, aged 16-24, who are pregnant and/or parenting. At Evelyn's House, we provide a safe, nurturing home with supportive services and community resources for these young women and their children during and after pregnancy, so they can become empowered during this transitional life moment. While at Evelyn's House, young mothers receive intensive case management, including evidence-based parenting classes and other classes to prepare them for employment, nutrition, health and wellness plans, mental health treatment and obtainment of permanent housing. Young women between the ages of 16 and 24 who are pregnant and/or parenting and currently homeless and/or who are fleeing domestic violence. Making A Referral We accept self-referrals, referrals from nonprofit agencies, hospitals, Runaway Homeless Youth (RHY) hotline, and Department of Social Services. Age Group Prenatal Transitional Youth Adults While the majority of our clients are from the Mohawk Valley Region, especially the cities of Utica and Rome, Evelyn's House accepts referrals from all over New York State, and also from other states. Our staff works collaboratively to develop and implement customized treatment plans for the individuals and families in our programs, and each team member contributes to our clients’ successes. Empowerment & Support At ICAN, we strive to empower and support individuals and families facing life challenges, by providing them with the tools to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. We assist them with succeeding in any goal they may have set, whether it be recovering from addiction, finding success in the classroom, creating a healthy home for their family as they anticipate the birth of a child, or seeking support and community resources, all while keeping families together as they process through their traumas. Access To Resources We connect individuals and families with critical community resources, such as access to physical and mental health providers, employment opportunities, housing options, peer support groups, and Wraparound services. We understand that access to some of these services can be difficult to attain during certain life challenges, and we are here to help individuals and families overcome this obstacle.
