Registered Nurse Cath Lab

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab is responsible for providing expert nursing care to patients undergoing catheterization procedures in an acute hospital setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care. The RN will also float within their scope to related areas such as EP or IR as needed. Strong communication skills and at least two years of nursing experience are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Cath Lab during catheterization and related procedures.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and implement treatment plans.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, technologists, and other nurses.
• Float within the scope of practice to Electrophysiology (EP) or Interventional Radiology (IR) as required by facility needs.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic electronic charting system.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to maintain a safe and effective clinical environment.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide weekend coverage as scheduled.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska (must be in hand for auto offer).
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, preferably Epic.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in Cath Lab, EP, IR, or related acute care specialties.
• Previous experience working in a Magnet designated hospital or Level II Trauma center.
• Ability to float flexibly within specialty units.

Special Considerations:

• On-call requirement: 1 day per week plus 4th/5th weekend coverage (Friday 1800 to Monday 0730).
• Weekend on-call approximately 1 Saturday per month as part of the scheduled 4 shifts per week.
• Time off is approved individually with a maximum of 1 time off request per 13-week assignment.
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility (no locals accepted).
• Must adhere to facility scrub color policy and use provided scrubs.
• Parking is free for staff.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of 4 shifts per week, each 10 hours in length (4x10 day shifts).
• Guaranteed 70 hours per 2-week pay period, with possibility of being called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks.
• Block scheduling is not accommodated.
