Accounting Manager

A growing privately held company is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager/Controller to oversee accounting operations, lead a small team, and support executive leadership with accurate financial reporting and business insights. Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, billing, and reconciliations
- Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Manage accounting activities across multiple entities
- Oversee project/job costing processes and maintain accurate financial data within a project-based environment
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts
- Develop and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting processes
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while promoting accountability and accuracy
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making
Qualifications
- Strong accounting leadership experience in a project-based, job costing, manufacturing, construction, distribution, logistics, or similar operational environment
- Proven experience leading month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Multi-entity accounting experience required
- Strong technical accounting skills with expertise in general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prior experience supervising and developing accounting staff
- Experience with contract setup, project accounting systems, or ERP platforms is a plus
- Financial statement preparation and analysis experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
- CPA is a plus
