Job DescriptionHarborview Medical Center Department of Public Safety has an outstanding opportunity for a Public Safety Threat Manager.WORK SCHEDULE100% FTEDay ShiftAvailability for on-call response to high-risk incidents and emergent threatsDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe UW Medicine Department of Public Safety at Harborview Medical Center is a team of certified security professionals dedicated to promoting and maintaining hospital security and safety by enforcing rules and regulations to provide for the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and the facilities at Harborview Medical Center and its associated offsite clinics.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSThe Public Safety Threat Manager position strengthens Harborview Medical Center’s ability to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate threats before they escalate into violence. The role supports Harborview’s mission as Washington’s premier Level I trauma center by enhancing workforce safety, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and the overall security of patients, visitors, staff, and faculty.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESLead Harborview’s Public Safety Threat Management Program and coordinate all threat assessment activitiesServe as chair or co-chair of Harborview’s multidisciplinary Threat Management Team (TMT)Support compliance with Washington State workplace violence laws, including RCW 49.19Collect, analyze, and disseminate threat intelligence from internal and external sourcesConduct risk assessments for hospital executives, board members, and high-profile visitorsDevelop and deliver training programsDevelop and maintain policies, procedures, and standardsREQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in criminal justice, emergency management, psychology, behavioral sciences, public administration, healthcare administration, or related fieldSeven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following: Healthcare Public Safety; Law Enforcement; Threat Assessment; Protective Services; Emergency Management; or Workplace Violence PreventionThree (3) years of leadership or program management experienceExperience conducting investigations and managing sensitive casesKnowledge of healthcare operations and hospital regulatory requirementsEquivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
