Tree Care Crew: Climbers, Aerial Lift Operators & Grounds Crew

An established, family-owned tree care company in Whitehouse Station, NJ is adding to its crews, with openings at several levels. Needed are experienced climbers and aerial lift operators, and also ground crew members who want to build a career in tree care. The work is year-round, training is paid, and pay is based on your skills and experience.

Open Roles

• Climber / Aerial Lift Operator: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour
• Grounds Crew with Class A CDL: $26.00 – $35.00 per hour
• Grounds Crew (no CDL required): $22.00 – $25.00 per hour

What the Work Looks Like

This is production tree work: technical removals, large-tree pruning, crane-assisted jobs, and storm response when it hits. Days typically run around 10 hours, and schedules shift with job-site conditions and weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and hazardous tree removals, large-tree pruning, and crane-assisted removals.
• Use traditional and advanced rigging techniques while working safely around structures, utilities, and high-value targets.
• Operate and maintain tree care equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and mini-skids.
• Adapt to changing job-site conditions and respond to storm damage and emergency work.
• Follow safety protocols and work alongside the crew to get jobs done efficiently.
• Work longer production days when the schedule calls for it.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on tree service experience (or equivalent ability).
• A production tree work background, not only light residential work or ornamental pruning.
• Comfortable operating chainsaws, chippers, and mini-skids.
• Physically able to handle demanding work, with reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Coachable, able to take direction, and a good teammate.
• Class A CDL required for the CDL Grounds Crew role only.

Preferred

• Experience climbing, running bucket trucks or aerial lifts, or working crane-assisted jobs.
