Program Assistant, Men's Basketball

Job Description Summary The Program Assistant position within Maryland Men’s basketball serves in a versatile support role across daily program operations, coaching support, player development, video coordination, practices, and gameday responsibilities. This role works closely with the Head Coach, coaching staff, basketball operations staff, and student‑athletes to help ensure the efficient day‑to‑day functioning of the program. Responsibilities Serve as a special assistant to the Head Coach by supporting daily organizational and operational needs of the program Assist with player development workouts, practice preparation, and on‑court activities Support film and video operations, including recording, editing, organizing, and distributing practice and game film Assist with practice setup and breakdown, equipment organization, and overall gym operations Help coordinate gameday responsibilities including locker room setup, bench preparation, video support, and post‑game operations Support recruiting visits, team events, travel logistics, and other basketball operations responsibilities as assigned Maintain professionalism, organization, and strong communication within a fast‑paced DivisionI basketball environment Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Experience: Successful collegiate or professional level coaching experience Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations for recruiting off‑campus Proven integrity, leadership, and thorough knowledge of college basketball Strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically and athletically qualified student‑athletes Preferences: Previous experience in a fast‑paced Intercollegiate Athletics department Physical Demands The scope of the position frequently requires evening, weekend and holiday work (non‑standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; and constantly communicates via telephone, email and in‑person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 25 pounds. Compensation & Benefits Regular Faculty salary range: $50,300 - $60,300.
