Position Summary The Director of Operations will be a strategic leader with a tactical mindset, able to elevate SKG’s warehouse and installation teams to best in class. This person will drive improvement across the operations segment and serve as a change agent within the department. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to create and maintain process, rules, and consistency in everyday workflow, and will implement a standardized process for communicating deadlines and details that guide the back of house and are respected by the front of house. This role also oversees SKG’s ever-increasing commercial furniture installations, coordinating projects and embodying professionalism and service to internal and external clients and other trades, with a strong focus on pre-planning and auditing SKG projects before they go to the field. Key Responsibilities: Operations Leadership & Continuous Improvement Direct the activities and oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and installation teams. Limit warehouse, installation, and client-delivery risks by ensuring all department processes and procedures are implemented, followed, refined as necessary, and enforced. Develop warehouse and installation system improvements in conjunction with the COO and Operations and/or Warehouse Manager(s) by analyzing and iterating on process workflow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout, implementing change as necessary. Suggest efficiency and cost-reduction measures and assist with implementing changes within inbound and outbound warehouse operations. Establish and report on warehouse and installation metrics to drive continuous improvement. Develop improvement plans for installation errors and monitor labor quoted v. actual. People Management Manage the hiring, training, and supervision of warehouse and installation operations staff. Establish goals, operational procedures, objectives, and position responsibilities for direct reports. Manage work schedules according to fluctuating customer demand. Monitor time and overtime of all installers, operations, and warehouse personnel. Ensure contractor and SKG rules are enforced and followed by the installation team, including required SKG attire and PPE and all jobsite safety protocols. Review upcoming installs and deliveries, ensuring we optimize Team Lead allocation, product receipt and delivery, and allocate proper resources. Ensure Team Leads and installers perform daily installation tasks with the utmost quality (EOD reports, change orders, and other technology tools). Visit jobsites to assess performance and productivity of the crews. Communicate professionally with team members, clients, and other trades to support the most efficient, issue‑free installation possible. Communicate with the SKG Project Manager and/or project team of any transportation, construction, or other delays that impact installation. Budget, Invoicing, & Cost Control Establish, meet, track, and report on operational budgets and goals and deliver on budget parameters using innovative cost-control ideas. Review and audit labor quotes during installation meetings. Receive, review, validate, and process all vendor invoices and employee purchases Safety, Compliance & Fleet Oversee safety initiatives and implementations; maintain accurate compliance reporting. Safely operate company vehicles and equipment and assess any maintenance needs reported by leads and warehouse employees.
