Diesel Technician Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Raleigh, NC — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700 Retention Bonus: $0000 every year on your anniversary Sign‑On Bonus: $1250 after 30 days and $1250 after 90 days Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday Hours: Second Shift Tuesday – Friday 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Benefits Medical, dental, vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in your first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans – extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred Basic tools knowledge required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.) Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required areas, preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred You must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance Perform standard component inspections and repairs Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, e.g., Service Island support Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace.
