About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN UP Specialty: Cardiac Med/Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years applicable experience License: State RN license in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Assoc.) Must-Have: Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Basic computer knowledge, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing. Multicultural sensitivity. Critical thinking skills with independent judgement in decision-making. Description: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. You will promote the use of evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols, and procedures. You will assess patients' status through interviews, observation, and physical assessments of actual problems and outcomes. You will develop individualized care plans using a collaborative approach with patients and their families, as well as the health care team. You will implement appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes. You will systematically evaluate and document patients' progress toward expected outcomes and goals on an ongoing basis throughout the shift. You will modify plans of care based on evaluations. You will complete all required documentation, including patient charts and event reports. You will demonstrate professional accountability for your practice by seeking resources and continuing self-development. You will demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot when problems arise. You will acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. You will promote the professional development of yourself and your team members. You will share clinical knowledge through teaching and in response to the learning needs of others. You will demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues, as applicable. You will demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment, as applicable. You will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. You will perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider’s orders and hospital procedures and policies. You will coordinate interdisciplinary care for patients through collaboration with team members and utilize additional resources when necessary. You will analyze clinical situations in a systematic way and act to obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected outcomes or patient needs. You will recognize the need for assistance and utilize resources in a timely manner. You will demonstrate ownership and persistence to ensure problems are resolved in the best way possible. You will be able to manage non-complex and some complex patient assignments and adapt to changes in workload and unexpected interruptions. You will identify and utilize team resources to solve identified problems or needs. You will collaborate with the health care team in organizing tasks and activities for patients' care from admission to discharge according to the plan of care to meet identified expected outcomes. You will work with team members in delegating tasks and activities appropriately. You will provide goal-focused shift reports. You will advocate for patients with physicians when necessary. You will utilize communication and teamwork strategies aimed at promoting high team performance and achieving optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity. You will assess and choose teaching strategies that are appropriate for patients' and families' age-specific needs.
